Former Avondale Mayor Marie Lopez Rogers was elected the 2013 President of the National League of Cities. She was elected during 2012 the NLC Congress of Cities in Boston. At the time, Mayor Lopez Rogers also served on the League Executive Committee. Mayor Lopez Rogers was the first Latina NLC president and the first Arizonan to hold the position in nearly 25 years.
