Upcoming League Trainings
The League will be kicking off the New Year with several trainings on a variety of topics. The League’s legislative staff will provide a training on the Arizona State Legislature in January. In February, the League will once again present a grants training and will also provide a primer on developing and understanding municipal budgets. See below for details on each of the trainings.
Legislative 101: How to Build Relationships and Make an Impact at the State Capitol
When: Friday, January 19, 2018
Location: League of Arizona Cities and Towns, Room 101
Time: 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
The League’s senior legislative staff will walk attendees through the legislative process and discuss strategies for building stronger relationships with your legislators. They will also answer any questions you have about the legislative process and provide information on how you can make the most impact at the state capitol during the 2018 session.

Who: Dr. Beverly Browning ("Dr. Bev")
Dr. Bev Browning has 44 years of grant writing experience. She has assisted municipal and nonprofit clients in identifying new grant funding opportunities, initiating successful communications with potential funders, and creating internal grant writing teams. Armed with degrees in public administration, business administration, and management of human resources, Dr. Bev is credited with more than $430 million in contract and grant awards. She is the author of 43 publications and has taught grant writing and consulting courses online since 2001.

Developing & Understanding Municipal Budgets with Strategic Financial Forecasting for the Future
When: Wednesday, February 14, 2018

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Lunch will be provided)
Budgets are the financial plan that a city or town uses to deliver services to its citizens for each fiscal year. It sets the framework for the implementation of the services and is one of the most important processes a city or town undergoes each year. This session will cover how a budget is developed, how it impacts future years by using strategic financial forecasting and how it can be effectively communicated to elected officials, staff and citizens.
