The League of Arizona Cities and Towns was named “Best Industry Trade & Professional Association” Tuesday night at The Best of the Capitol 2017 event sponsored by the Arizona Capitol Times. The League was chosen by popular vote of the subscribers to the publication.
Registration for the 2017 League Annual Conference is now open! The conference will be held in Tucson at the Hilton El Conquistador, August 22 - 25.
The League of Arizona Cities and Towns offers four levels of sponsorship through its annual conference.
The 2017 New Laws Report of the League of Arizona Cities and Towns is now available. The Report is designed to serve as a guide to those enactments of the first regular session of the 53rd Arizona Legislature that have demonstrable impacts on municipalities.
The League welcomes Nick Ponder who recently joined staff as Pension Policy Analyst. Nick will be assisting cities and towns with pension issues.
The NLC Service Line Warranty program recently released a webinar that will look at the issue of lead in water service lines and provide practical solutions for cities to use.
During the summer months, the League’s legislative staff will travel throughout the state to report on activities of the legislative session that have an impact on cities and towns.
Matt Lehrman, principal of Audience Avenue LLC is an expert in public engagement, group problem-solving and consensus building. In August he will facilitate the pre-conference session at the League Annual Conference.
Mayor Jose Yepez ran for Somerton City Council as a write-in candidate so that he could be at the table where decisions were made about his hometown. Having served on council for 16 years, Mayor Yepez is committed to his community and making a difference as mayor.
In December 2015, the FAA implemented registration requirements for model aircraft. This month’s Legal Corner covers a recent opinion from the United States Court of Appeals regarding these registration requirements.
