United States President Benjamin Harrison set aside one square mile of Arizona Territory surrounding the Casa Grande ruins as the first prehistoric and cultural reserve established in the US. The City of Casa Grande would be incorporated in 1915. Read More.

The worst fire to ever occur in the City of Holbrook broke out on June 26, 1888 in a warehouse filled with wool. Nearly every business in downtown Holbrook was destroyed, but the residents quickly rebuilt. Starting with train depot, the city was recreated with even larger and more substantial buildings.
