  1. Why did you decide to serve in local government?
Being a fourth generation El Mirage citizen, my love for my community and my passion to serve others grew simultaneously, and truly, because of one another. My interest in local government, stemmed back to my mother’s involvement as a city of El Mirage employee when I was a child, and having the opportunity, through her, to experience how city resources and government impact and improve people’s lives on a daily basis. It is because of these experiences that I am proud to represent El Mirage in the capacity of Mayor and consider it a dream come true. I am very honored and grateful for this opportunity to provide for my community and city in ways that they have provided to me.
  2. What are the biggest challenges facing your town today?
It’s an exciting time in El Mirage! Developers are looking at El Mirage as a home for their companies. The City is working hard to make sure infrastructure and roads are in place to see these projects to fruition.
  3. What opportunities do you see for your community?
Economic Development is a priority for the Council. El Mirage is being proactive to secure new opportunities that will create quality jobs and retail for our residents and for the West Valley. The City is continually building and fostering relationships to ensure we are recognized at the local, state and national level.
  4. What are you most proud of during your time in office?
This is my third month in office and I am proud to say that I recently led our first Council and staff strategic planning session so we have an understanding of our priorities and future goals for the City. Thanks to great team work with the Council and staff, our residents can expect to see great things to come!
  5. Why is the League important to cities and towns in Arizona?
Having one body represent 90 cities and towns across Arizona with the sole purpose of defending local control and safe guarding our state shared revenues is vitally important. El Mirage and all cities and towns greatly benefit from having this united voice at the legislature. Further, all cities benefit from the Leagues’ expertise in education/training, conferences and seminars.
