GFOAz promotes excellence in government financial management through leadership, education and communication.

About:

The Government Finance Officers Association of Arizona (GFOAz) is a non-profit professional organization that serves the government finance profession in Arizona. GFOAz serves as the state chapter of the national Government Finance Officers Association. We were founded in 1965 and have a membership of nearly 400 individuals. We encourage membership from state, county, and city governments, school districts, colleges, universities, special districts, and private firms. The purpose of GFOAz is to improve the practice of governmental finance in the state of Arizona as developed and recommended by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada as well as other recognized authorities.

Vision:

GFOAz provides a system of networking, training and information sharing opportunities. These opportunities help those individuals responsible for municipal and other local government fiscal policy and management develop knowledge, enhance skills, and improve performance.

Programs and Services

GFOAz serves government finance officers statewide and any person who is interested in the principles and practices of government finance, and who subscribes to the purposes of the GFOAz with the following programs and services:

• Two conferences held in February and August
• Three annual trainings (January, May and October)
• Up to 43 CPE credits annually
• Scholarship opportunities that include one to the Government Finance
• Scholarship opportunities that include one to the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada Leadership Academy, one scholarship to the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) annual conference, two scholarships to the GFOAz Winter Conference and two scholarships to the GFOAz Summer Conference
• Monthly communication through e-mail blasts and social networking
• Website available to the members and public
• Online directory and discussion board available to members
• Presentation of GFOA awards to member organizations
   

2023 Conferences and Trainings

Sponsors at silver, gold and platinum levels mix and mingle with attendees at the Winter and Summer Conferences, and three additional trainings of GFOAz with city, town and county finance directors, budget officers, accountants and other local government officials.
